THE NEW EUROPEAN YOUTH CAPITAL WEBSITE

Welcome to the European Youth Capital (EYC) official new website!

newwebsite

Coinciding with the 5th selection process of the EYC, the European Youth Forum (EYJ), promotor and coordinator of the initiative, created a website on the EYC in order to give the  efforts of the European Youth Capitals and the entire process more visibility and to create a one access information point on the EYC project.

In the website, you will be able to find all the information dealing with the EYC, that is to say all the information about the former EYC (Rotterdam in 2009), the current EYC (Torino 2010) and the future EYCs (Antwerp in 2011, and Braga in 2012).
Moreover, if you are interested in proposing your city as a candidate for the next years, you can inform yourself about all the requirements and find all the documents needed to make an applications.
Finally, the selection procedure of each call can now be followed directly towards this new website. As a matter of fact, you can now see the shortlist with the three finalists of the 2013 EYC call.
What are we really talking about when we mention the European Youth Capital? It is a title awarded to a european city for the period of one year, during which it will be given the chance to develop a diverse program related to youth issues. This project intends not just to raise awareness about youth issues, but also to make institutions conscious of the need to add a youth dimension to the policy-making process. The idea is to go beyond a simple award, and to promote in the long term the participation of young people in the public sphere through the local level, considered as the closest to the citizens, and creating at the same time a bridge between the european and the local level.
