2nd Dialogue on the recognition of Non-Formal Education
26-27 October, Brussels

Youth organisations along with other social actors and decision-makers are getting together under the 2nd Dialogue on the recognition of Non-Formal Education, entitled ‘Towards quality learning and greater competences', on 26-27 in Brussels.

The event, organised by the European Youth Forum (YFJ), aims at exploring and reflecting on the recognition process of Non-Formal Education (NFE) under the principle of equal access to Lifelong Learning opportunities for all young people. The dialogue will focus on the NFE's impact and its Quality Indicators.

Over 20 participants from YFJ Member Organisations will be interacting with experts from the World Bank, UNESCO, the European Commission, the Council of Europe as well as from ETUC (European Trade Union Confederation), Jeune/UEAPME (European Association of Craft, Small & Medium Sized Enterprises), Business Europe, the British Council and the Social Platform. The participants will be putting together a set of recommendations.

The 1 st Dialogue on the recognition of Non-Formal Education took place in 2006; the European Youth Forums aims to facilitate this gathering between different stakeholders on a yearly basis building on the previous year's results. By so doing, the YFJ takes the lead in a process that brings together youth organisations and other relevant actors so they can exchange their own understanding on NFE and its applicability. The need for NFE recognition is therefore seen from different perspectives. This time round, the dialogue will tackle three main topics: employment, Lifelong Learning and social inclusion.
