Being an advocacy platform, the European Youth Forum directs its work to a number of institutions to promote and advocate for the protection of youth rights.
Within the European Commission, we work with DG EAC, DG Employment, DG Development, and DG Justice. With the European Parliament, we have stronger ties to the Intergroup on Youth and the CULT Committee. We share our advocacy work towards the Council with our member organisations, the national youth councils. The European Economic and Social Committee is a great ally of civil society, as well as the Committee of the Regions.
Due to its long-standing commitment and expertise on youth policy and human rights, we have a privileged relationship with the Council of Europe. We work with the Advisory Council on Youth and the Joint Council, while developing stronger ties with the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities and the Parliamentary Assembly. We also cooperate with the European Youth Centres and the North-South Centre.
The Youth Forum collaborates with the UN Secretary-General Special Envoy on Youth, although the UN Focal Point on Youth, which is also permanent co-chair of the United Nations Inter-Agency Network on Youth Development (IANYD), is our main contact within the UN system. We cooperate in diverse forms with UNFPA, UNESCO, UNICEF, UN-HABITAT, the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) and the ILO.
