Council of Members April 2019: Elections

During the next European Youth Forum Council of Members meeting (12-13 April in Brussels, Belgium), the Member Organisations will elect and appoint the members of the following bodies:

  • The Council of Europe Advisory Council on Youth - AC (20)
  • The European Youth Forum Financial Control Commission - FCC (1)

You will find below the call for nominations for both elections, as well as the necessary instructions to apply. This website will be regularly updated in order to inform delegates about all you need to know. Should you need further information, please feel free to contact us at governance@youthforum.org!

Elections to the Council of Europe Advisory Council on Youth (AC)

Every two years, Member Organisations of the European Youth Forum nominate candidates for the Advisory Council on Youth of the Council of Europe. During the Council of Members I-19, Member Organisations will have the opportunity to elect:

  • 13 representatives among INGYOs, and
  • 7 representatives among NYCs

Candidates are nominated by a Member Organisation. Ideally, they should register and take part as delegates in the Council of Members in April 2019, as it will be the opportunity for them to present their vision for the Advisory Council! Nevertheless, attendance is not mandatory to be eligible for elections.

How to apply

Please send the following documents to the Youth Forum Secretariat by post or email (to governance@youthforum.org), in compliance with the requirements below, by Friday 1st March 2019 at 23:59 CET:

  • A letter from the nominating organisation, stating the name of the candidate and the position for which the candidate is being nominated, on official-headed paper, with a stamp of the nominating organisation, and in .pdf format; and

  • The application form (in both .doc and .pdf format), which contains separate sections addressed to either the individual candidate or the nominating organisation.

Elections to the European Youth Forum Financial Control Commission (FCC)

In November 2018, the European Youth Forum elected its political representatives. However, one of the positions within the Financial Control Commission was not filled in that first round of elections, which is why we are launching a second call for candidates for this statutory body, following Rule A.6.7 of the Rules of Procedure (“For the election of the eight Board Members and the Financial Control Commission, there may be a second call for candidates if the post(s) are not filled in the first round of elections”). To ensure a balance among genders, the present call is open for candidates with genders other than male identified. Please note that there is only one position available.

Candidates nominated by Member Organisations will have the opportunity to present their vision for the platform ahead of the Council of Members. The election process shall be open, democratic and transparent, following the rules that have been established.

How to apply

Please send the following documents to the Youth Forum Secretariat by email (to governance@youthforum.org), in compliance with the requirements below, by Friday 1st March 2019 at 23:59 CET:

  • A letter on official-headed paper from the organisation nominating the candidate, stating the position for which the candidate is being nominated, with a stamp of the nominating organisation;

  • A letter from the candidate officially certifying that they accept the nomination; and
