Motion on the support for the exclusion of the National Youth Council of Russia (NYCR)

26/11/2022

Today, the General Assembly of the European Youth Forum voted to terminate the membership of the National Youth Council of Russia (NYCR) in the platform. 63 Member Organisations voted in favour of the expulsion, based on NYCR’s violation of the Youth Forum's expressed mission and vision, and after receiving the recommendation of the Board and the Consultative Body on Membership Applications (CBMA).

The General Assembly also voted in favour of a Motion submitted by the National Youth Council of Ukraine (NYCU) and co-submitted by the European Students’ Union (ESU), the Organising Bureau of European School Student Unions (OBESSU) and the European Union of Jewish Students (EUJS). The Motion listed NYCR’s actions which were in support of the Russian war against Ukraine and called for the exclusion of the organisation.

When taking the floor, member organisations expressed their hope that the young people of Russia will again be represented in the European Youth Forum, on the basis of democracy and respect for human rights.
