Youth Forum’s Migration and Human Rights Network meets in Brussels
The European Youth Forum’s Migration and Human Rights Network (MHRN) held its second meeting of 2017 on 16-17 November. The Network focuses on promoting social inclusion and empowerment of young refugees.
Seven representatives of Youth Forum member organisations participated in the meeting, many joining the Network for the first time.
The participants took stock of progress on existing priorities. They also provided input to a checklist on inclusion of young refugees in the work and structures of youth organisations, which the Network is preparing.
The Network members were introduced to the work of the EU-Council of Europe Partnership in the field of youth and of the Flemish Refugee Action.
The participants were given an overview of research on the youth sector’s efforts to include young refugees in Europe, as well as integration projects in Belgium aimed at giving a voice to young asylum-seekers and refugees and to promote diversity in the Flemish youth sector.
Building on existing priorities, the Network will focus on inclusion within youth organisations, particularly in relation to young refugees, as well as on preparing activities for World Refugee Day 2018.
