Over the weekend, the European Youth Forum’s working group on youth work met in Berlin.

The meeting was co-organised with Deutsches Nationalkomitee für Internationale Jugendarbeit (DNK) in Berlin on 21-23 March and saw eight young Europeans come together to discuss the power of youth work. Board member Elise Drouet and policy officer Matthias Christensen represented the European Youth Forum, and other attendees included Sebastian Vogt, Marko Boko, Ekaterine Tsvariani, Vika Matuzaité, Gerd Tarand, Ana Silva and Viktoriya Traut.

The main focus of the meeting was to discuss the latest draft of the Youth Work Policy Paper for the upcoming European Youth Forum Council of Members (COMEM) meeting in Brussels this April. The Youth Work Policy Paper emphasises the impact of youth work on our society as well as on the individual and discusses how the Youth Forum can work on creating stronger youth organisations by increasing their organizational capacities.

Following the finalisation of the draft Youth Work Policy Paper, the German Youth Council led a discussion on the Forum’s involvement in the Eastern Europe and Caucasus region which is going through some turbulent times in light of the crisis in Ukraine. Attendees contemplated different ways that the Youth Forum could react and how they can take action as representatives of youth organisations.
