Incredible number of young people registered to participate in the European Youth Event 2014

10/02/2014

In anticipation of the first European Youth Event (EYE 2014), over 10,000 people — double the amount predicted — have registered to attend!

The EYE 2014 is set to begin on 9th of May at the European Parliament in Strasbourg, and the 10,000 participants, ranging in age from 18 to 30 years old, will be traveling from all over Europe to attend.

The European Youth Event is a three-day event that gives young people a unique opportunity to meet European decision makers and discuss ‘Ideas for a better Europe’. EYE 2014 will feature high-level political debates, educational workshops and cultural activities focused on five core themes: youth unemployment, digital revolution, the future of the European Union, sustainability and European values.

As part of EYE 2014, the European Youth Forum invites all attendees to attend YO! Fest. Now in its 5th year, YO!Fest will be bigger than ever, as a prominent part of the European Youth Event. Included in YO!Fest is the interactive YO! Village, a vibrant space full of energy combining a wide range of interactive activities run by and for young people, as well as stands, political debates and workshops on the five core themes, a Living Library organised by the Council of Europe, artistic performances such as dance, circus, theatre, street art and graffiti, sports, live music and an emerging band contest organised in collaboration with Jeunesses Musicales International, as well as informal discussions at the YO!Café

As part of YO! Fest, there will be two evening events: an Open air concert – with ethno/world music - on Friday evening organised in collaboration with the City of Strasbourg. On the Saturday evening there will be a club night electro/pop/rock featuring the winner of the Emerging Band Contest. Headline acts for both nights to be confirmed.

We can’t wait to see you all of you that have registered at the EYE 2014!
