MEP Network on Youth Rights

The MEP Network on Youth Rights unites Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) around a shared mission: making Europe work for young people. These MEPs have boldly pledged to champion youth rights, ensuring that young voices are heard, reflected, and shape EU policy.

By signing this pledge, they commit to key areas where they will work hand-in-hand with the European Youth Forum to drive real change over the next five years. We’re excited to collaborate with these passionate advocates and look forward to expanding this network even further throughout the current mandate.

The Youth Pledge

Objectives on youth voice and representative youth organisations:

  • I will push for an institutionalised, regular dialogue with representative youth organisations in the European Parliament committees I will be part of;

  • I will champion representative youth organisations as guardians of a flourishing civic space including in discussions with governments in countries where civic space is being challenged.

Objectives on legislative files:

  • During discussions on the next MFF, I will champion budgets and decisions that prioritise young people and reflect the realities of youth organisations in the formation and financing of all EU programmes and commit to advocating for investments in a just transition.

  • Building on the work during the previous Parliamentary term to place internships firmly on the EU agenda, I will strive during negotiations for an ambitious Directive on internships that ensures quality conditions for internships, including remuneration that pays a minimum wage.

  • I commit to championing the need for an EU Directive focused on addressing psychosocial risks and promoting mental health in the workplace. This directive will specifically target the emerging risks associated with precarious forms of employment - a situation that disproportionately affects young people.

  • Building on the foundation laid by the previous term, I will push for an EU Directive on Adequate Minimum Income that guarantees adequacy while dismantling discriminatory age-based eligibility requirements that currently exist in numerous Member States.

  • I will push for an ambitious electoral act to update European democracy and get more young people's voices heard in elections.

In signing this pledge - I join the MEP Network on Youth Rights of the European Youth Forum.
