Today, UN Secretary-General António Guterres, presented the UN Youth Strategy in an event chaired by Jayathma Wickramanayake, UN Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth. It has been a document which the European Youth Forum and other youth organisations have been waiting for with anticipation.
In May 2018 the European Commission launched a Communication on a new EU Youth Strategy for time period 2019-2027. For the first time it proposed to establish EU Youth Coordinator. This paper proposes concrete measures to shape the EU Coordinator's position, so it can serve for youth policy coordination within the European Commission.
With the new EU Youth Strategy being currently negotiated in the Council of the EU, the momentum is here to build an impactful and open EU Youth Dialogue - a youth participation instrument that will succeed the Structured Dialogue with young people as of 2019.
This document lays down the position of the European Youth Forum on the new DiscoverEU action for the Erasmus programme 2021-2027.
